Dear friends and neighbors,

The members of the Mansfield Twp. Fire Co #1 would like to wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season.  The past year has been another record year for our company, 5 more members have graduated to the status of Firefighter 1.  This certification allows them to perform all of the duties asked of them as a Firefighter.  Starting in January we will be sending 6 more members to the fire academy. These students will need to attend 160 hours of training, in order to graduate. We are very proud of our new member’s who are taking time out of their personal lives to attend school, so that they will be able help protect our friends and neighbors.

            As we said earlier we will be trying to send 6 more students to the academy this January, although we cannot outfit our members with the proper protective equipment.  It costs around $2500.00 to outfit one firefighter with turnout gear.  Over the past year the Township Committee slashed our budget by 10%, the other three companies in town were only reduced by 5%.   It has been a real struggle for our company to supply our members with the proper safety equipment they need to go through the fire academy.  Our membership is around 40 members strong, and it has been a real challenge to meet our financial needs. 

            We started running a weekly bingo on Tuesday nights to help raise the funding we so desperately need.  We are asking you to consider making a donation, so that we can purchase the turnout gear that our new members need.  We appreciate all of your support that you have given us in the past, and hope that you will continue to do so in the future.  Without this additional funding, we will not be able to send the new members to fire school.  Unfortunately without the Firefighter 1 certification, these new members are unable to perform all of the duties of a Firefighter. Please keep in mind that all of your donations are tax deductible.  We Thank You.
